I am a film and media scholar working across film and media theory, place, and embodied spectatorship. Originally from Shenzhen, I have lived and studied in New York and London. I earned my PhD in Film Studies at Central Saint Martins (UAL). My dissertation, Place as Method: Film Theory through Rhythmanalysis, proposes place as a theoretical framework for understanding cinema's operations and ontology. Outside academia, I am an experienced badminton player. Occasionally, I also write poems and fiction.

Develops a cinematic rhythmanalysis that follows rhythm across fragmented encounters rather than treating the film as a self-contained text. It considers how the spatial and temporal conditions of viewing become part of spectatorship.

Examines how the London Film Festival simultaneously embodies a distinct sense of place and a state of placelessness. The LFF serves as a prime example of how place in the postmodern festival is no longer anchored to stable geography but is continually reconstituted through individual experiences.

Brings Alain Badiou’s philosophy of love into dialogue with cinema, asking how an event of love reorganises the experience of time. The article reads cinematic temporality as a meeting point between duration, rupture and fidelity.

Investigates the replacement and displacement of languages by English across film and television. It frames linguistic substitution as an expression of cultural power rather than a neutral matter of access or circulation.

Reads automobility as both promise and pressure in two recent Chinese urban dramas. Cars become a lens on professional women’s work–family dilemmas, exposing the limits of neoliberal narratives of mobility and empowerment.
An accepted book chapter on embodied place-making and mobile storytelling in Chinese micro-drama, also considering AI-generated screen imagery in relation to spectatorship and sense of place.
